1:6 scale Katana for 1:6 action figures
This is a Shirasaya-style mount with a normal curved blade
Designed with multiple parts for allowing different models (see My Store
for other models),
and to facilitate painting, as each part can be painted individually and then assembled together afterward.
I designed and tested this model for FUD (Frosted Ultra Detail) plastic: the pieces slide on easily, and the blade slides in the scabbard and holds just like a real katana.
I tested a few other material as well, and here are my thoughs:
-White, Strong, and Flexible: it works, but a lot of details are lost, you'll have to empty the scabbard of the un-fused powder yourself (using a small wire like a paper clip for example), and the blade is way too flexible, totally unrealistic imo.
-Frosted Detail: it works, but some details are lost, and the blade is a bit too flexible too.
Also, the blades of both WSF and FD were slightly bent when I received them, which I suspect is due to the packaging+blade flexibility.
My conclusion: FUD is definitely the best in terms of both details and parts fitting, and the blade is quite stiff, as you would expect a real blade to be. Unlike the other materials, with FUD the grooves on the blade and the grip markings really stand out.
