N-scale (1:160th) Deck Railing – 36” High, Style #3 .
Based on current and past designs, this model represents wooden deck railings typically found on houses across North America. Built to current Canadian Building Code for decks less than 5’10” above grade, this railing features a 2x2 spindle, secured between a 2x2 top plate and a 2x6 bottom plate. An additional 2x4 below the bottom plate provides strength while a 2x6 top cap provides plenty of space for leaning. This railing is designed to sit at 36" to the top of the top cap, leaving a 4" gap under the bottom of the railing.
The model features scale thickness “lumber” (true 2x2, 2x4 & 2x6 construction!) and are designed to be mated to posts supplied by the modeller. To remain true to scale, a scale 6x6 should be used for the posts (0.040” styrene stock would be more than suitable), and the entire assembly painted to match.
Designers Note: This is a finely detailed, miniature scale model. It is small, delicate and fragile. It is my recommendation that this model not be treated as a toy.
