Product Description
There are these two cylindrical pipe objects sticking out the back of the EVA pod. What are they for? Who knows! They're not cameras or lamps, and exhaust pipes make no sense in space. They're not vernier thrusters, as they're way off centre, and would cause the whole pod to spin around if fired. (the Moebius decal set incorrectly labels them as verniers)

Anyway. Moebius moulded the thingies as very slightly tapered cylinders, for ease of moulding. And they made the inner surface flat with projecting ridges, rather than recessed slots.

So here are some more accurate replacement parts. They have perfectly parallel sides, the slight rounding at the end of the pipes, the shallow engraved ring, and slots cut into a flat vertical inner surface. All as they appear in the movie.

Though speaking of the movie, there is a continuity issue.
When seen in the pod bay the slots are horizontal. But in the space scenes the slots are vertical.

So I've made three versions. This is the version designed for easy painting. The black bit is separate, so you can install the white cylinders, paint everything up, then add the black internal bits at the very end. Super easy! No messing around trying to mask or paint the lines precisely. I've also put in internal notches for perfect alignment. There are two notches, so you can put the internals in either horizontally or vertically. Note - when cutting the cylinders off the sprues, don’t cut off the internal alignment block.

However, because the parts are separate it costs a bit more to print. So I've also made two cheaper versions. One has the horizontal slots seen in the pod bay scenes, and another one with the vertical slots seen in the space scenes. You can't just take one of these versions and rotate them 90° because the holes in the Moebius shell are not actually symmetrical, and so these parts have been slightly squished to fit. Fortunately it's not something that's really visible to the eye - you need calipers to tell.

It's not possible to see the bottom of the slots in the movie. The space scene suggests some sort of gridlike texture, so I put in a kind of grille texture after the engines of the Aries model. When it's painted flat black it's pretty difficult to see the interior, so I don't think it much matters what's in there.

Obviously like any 3D print, you may need to lightly sand the sides of the cylinders to eliminate any slight ridging caused by the print process. Also, you'll need to apply a bit of putty to fill the gap between the cylinder and the Moebius back. The same problem exists with the Moebius cylinders, incidentally - their parts have gaps also.

For completeness I've made this available in two grades of the "fine detail" plastic, but to be honest it doesn't really need the higher resolution print.
