The Austin K6 was a British heavy military truck built by Austin for use during the Second World War. It was used for carrying the Katyusha BM-13 multiple rocket launcher first built and fielded by the Soviet Union in World War II. Multiple rocket launchers such as these deliver explosives to a target area more intensively than conventional artillery, but with lower accuracy and requiring a longer time to reload. They are fragile compared to artillery guns, but are cheap, easy to produce, and usable on any chassis. This mobility gave the Katyusha and other self-propelled artillery, another advantage: being able to deliver a large blow all at once, and then move before being located and attacked with counter-battery fire.
This kit contains all necessary parts for assembling ONE Austin K6 vehicle with Katyusha BM13 rocket launcher with tracks, at 1/76 scale. It can make a fine diorama display alongside with same scale figures or other vehicles, although it will look just fine on its own of course. Any additional diorama accessories are not included and should be purchased separately. The model is also available as v1 with cabin front shield closed, as v2 with cabin front shield opened and v3 with tracks model kits.
