Product Description
1/128 Scale Vickers 3-pdr 1.85"/50 (47mm) x4 on Vickers MKI mount as used by the Royal Navy. Note these are the Vickers 3-pdr not the Hotchkiss 3-pdr, The Vickers 3-pdr was slightly larger and more powerful, having an overall barrel length of 98.9" whereas the Hotchkiss barrel length was 80.6"). These are highly detailed parts using the Norman Ough plans for the most accurate and detailed Vickers 3-pdr 1.85"/50 (47mm) Guns available. These guns were used on Iron Duke Class ships and Queen Elizabeth Class ships along with many ships in WW1 and small craft throughout WW2. Also available in most larger scales (See My Shop).
Historical Data
A more powerful gun than the Hotchkiss 3-pdr, this weapon was used as a secondary gun on cruisers and later as an AA weapon during World War I.
Actual bore length was 50.05 calibers.
Cleaning Information
Some part cleanup will be necessary. The 3D printing process uses a waxy substance to support certain part features during the printing process. Although the parts are cleaned by Shapeways, some waxy residue may remain. It can be safely removed with water and a mild aqueous detergent like "Simple Green" using an old, soft toothbrush, Q-tips or pipe cleaners. During the printing process, liquid resin is cured by ultraviolet light. Microscopic bits of resin may remain uncured.
Let your parts sit in direct sunlight for a few hours to fully cure the resin.
Water-based acrylic paints meant for plastics is strongly recommended. Other paints, especially enamels, may not cure on Frosted Detail 3D-printed plastics.
Use dedicated model sprue cutters to remove parts to minimise the risk of damage to parts.
