_____This freelanced overhead crane model is a general representation of cranes that are controlled by an operator on the ground using a tethered hand held control box. The model is designed to span 3 sets of N scale tracks spaced approximately 1.625 inches apart, center to center. The hook in the pulley block, which can be seen in the Shapeways' 3D orbital view, actually swivels in the block and tackle.
NOTE 1: If pairing this "Overhead Crane-Warren-110 Ton N Scale Model" with the “Walthers, Cornerstone Series, N Scale Car Shop 933-3228”, it is designed to be placed OUTSIDE of the car shop spanning across the rails exiting the engine bay exterior doors. (see photo for example)_____
NOTE 2: If modeling with the “Walthers, Cornerstone Series, N Scale Back Shop 933-3227”, you can also use the "Overhead Crane-Warren-100 Ton N Scale Model" which is designed to be palced INSIDE the back shop spanning along the length of the interior engine bays._____
_____PROTOTYPE CRANE DIMENSIONS:
64 ft 8.75 in between the crane rail heads that would span the tracks etc.
67 ft 4 in wide x 20 ft 2 in deep x 9 ft 7 in high overall.
_____FINISHED MODEL DIMENSIONS:
approx. 5.05 in wide x 2.9375 in deep x 2.25 in high._____
_____The model is printed in seperate pieces. This enables the modeler to paint each section much easier. It also allows for the ease of instalation of items such as the cabling and other detail parts, etc._____
_____The modeler will need to supply the material to be used for the structures that hold the crane up in the air. That would be the structure upon which the main span rides. These can be made from plastic I-beams or any material with which the modeler is comfortable. The N scale rails that would be used for the structure supporting the crane shall be supplied by the modeler. The hook in the pulley block (not seen in the Shapeways' rendering but printed and supplied all the same) actually swivels in the block and tackle. Fine thread or similar product can be used to simulate the cable going to and from the winch and the crane hook block and tackle._____
