Product Description

This is a 1:29 G scale smoke jack (chimney for the coal stove) as found on many cabooses. The prototype for this was found on the wooden cabooses of Canadian National and Grand Trunk. This model includes a ring located part way up the chimney, to which 3 guy wires were attached to help stabilize it on the prototype. Many railroads used a chimney very similar to this, but without the guy wires and attaching ring; that can be found in our "Style 02" type smoke jack. Style 02 is more appropriate for Canadian Pacific, TH&B, and most railroads across Canada and the United States. Most roads used this style of smoke jack from their original construction until approximately 1955-1960 when most switched from a capped smoke jack like this, to that with an H-style top to it. For the H-style, please refer to our "Style 03" & "Style 04" smoke jacks. An important feature of this model is that it is hollow, allowing use of a smoke generator inside the body of the caboose. This model has a 1/4" diameter hollow stem which is long enough to extend below the roof line.
