HO scale brake rigging for cabooses. Will detail four cabooses. Does not include control valve, reservoir, brake cylinder or plumbing - this is only the levers, rods and slack adjuster.
Cleaning the parts: I have read many recommendations for solvents to clean Frosted Ultra Detail and Frosted Extreme Detail parts of the waxy material that coats the surface of each part you receive from Shapeways. I've tried many of these products, from pure acetone to Bestine to isopropyl alcohol to plain soap and water. I have had mixed resutls with each one and in the case of alcohol I ended up with a bunch of ruined parts (to be fair, they were clean but warped beyond recognition and shrunken by a small amount).
After much experimentation I discovered that the household cleaner Simple Green is an effective cleaner for Frosted Ultra Detail and Frosted Extreme Detail parts. The process for cleaning the parts is as follows:
Spray enough Simple Green to coat one side of the part. Using an old toothbrush, gently scrub the surface of the part for about 30 seconds. Repeat for the other sides and edges. Once the part has been scrubbed, use dishwashing detergent and a brush under cool water to remove all traces of the Simple Green and waxy residue. Next, rinse the part in cool water. Finally, dry the part with a hair dryer on the cool setting, with compressed air, or just allow the part to air dry. The part is then ready for use.
