Product Description

EXPERIMENTAL! These are Alumide, a plastic/aluminum blend with improved density properties, so as a result units have a mass of .3g with remarkable consistency within a batch. Flexibility is however reduced. They're an experiment in the same vein as previous iterations, so the same comments about efficacy still stand. Fair warning, this model has been printed previously (obviously) and at the time of typing runs a 100% success rate. That said, Shapeways' model checkers sporadically reject models and given the intricate nature of this one it may be subject to erroneous rejections as well. That said, I have come to suspect that such rejections are based in part on work volume, as FUD rejections are extremely rare. Alumide might also be sufficiently "obscure" as to have some inoculation against this. Sadly, all the test printing of this in the world can't prevent these rejections. That said, after printing this model, shapeways sent this message: "After the most recent purchase of your products, we calculated a print success rate that is now greater than 80% for the following products and materials: Aspherical Round (rev.3) is no longer First To Try in: Metallic Plastic What does this mean? This means that we can confidently make your product, and you can confidently sell your product to customers in these materials. We've updated each product page so that these materials are now listed as "Products". This is to help your customers feel confident that they're purchasing a product that can be successfully made."
