Product Description
This is a kit for sides of a concrete deck bridge, based on a Reading Company prototype. To keep costs down, the kit is only for the sides, one of which is embossed with a diamond stamp with the "build" date. In this case the date is 1928, but drop me a message if you'd like to request a different year. The modeler will need to supply his or her own material for the actual bridge deck, in whatever material is preferred - plywood, Gatorfoam, styrene, chocolate? - and the deck is just over 10mm thick, or 0.393700787401575 inches for non-metric folks :) . Best to measure for yourself once you have the parts in hand. The prototype had a pier in the center for support. Having only the sides means you can make the bridge single- or double-track width as needed. I'm offering it in White Natural Versatile Plastic for the budget-conscious modeler, as well as in the Smooth Fine Detail Plastic. Disclaimer - I haven't personally worked with the versatile plastic (formerly known as Strong & Flexible), but I hear it can be painted, and I recommend sanding it with a fine-grit sandpaper first. I do this with any material that's representing concrete anyway. The date may not be as clear in the lower-cost option, vs. the Smooth Fine Detail. *A portion of all proceeds benefits the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society and the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society!*
