Ark Immemorial (2018) no. 5

This series imagines digital remnants of the numerous microscopic species that have already or will soon become extinct before they are ever observed by humans. Much as photogrammetry and virtual reality have been deployed as a last-ditch effort to digitally preserve heritage sites threatened or destroyed by regional conflicts, these imaginary organisms are now accessible only as indexical reminders—totems of their potential being and mementos of their absence.
