CTA 2400 Series

This is an HO Scale model of the CTA 2400 series rapid transit cars built by Boeing-Vertol in 1976-1977. These cars were a continuation of the High Performance series of rapid transit cars in Chicago and were the first cars since the 4000s built in the 1920s to have sliding side doors rather than the "Blinker" doors of the 6000s, 2000s, and 2200s. These cars were in passenger service until 2014. A few cars remain in work train service as well as an 8 car set restored to their 1970s appearance in the CTA's Heritage Fleet.
