A ring made from high resolution 3d printed wax and lost wax casting, hand polished to a smooth finish. Features a 2.5 - 5.0 mm thick band, overall width 11.5 mm.
The symmetrical ink blob patterns of the Rorschach test questioned people’s perception. What do we see in abstract forms? Do we break it down to familiar elements or do we see it as a whole. It’s clear that a form is a form — until it isn't. Is the rabbit an individual or part of a collective — what do you perceive?
The Rorschach ring is a result of playing with parametric design. As simple as it sounds, I took the rabbit and rotated in a circle around a point in space. This was also an ongoing exploration to develop a ring using only rabbits as a design element. The rabbits were meticulously crafted using digital sculpting and handmade sketches. As mentioned, the ring is made using parametric computer algorithms, which allows the design to adapt across all ring sizes. The bigger the ring size, the more rabbits in the ring.
