This model takes a bit of explanation. It is parts, designed to assist making a model of a storage tank. When built, it is about 8' diameter and 14' long. The parts include :
- 2 x tank ends,
- 2 x inner formers (correct diameter for the tank ends), and
- 2 larger formers for the centre course of the tank.
The formers are designed to work with .010" thick sheet styrene wrappers (not supplied with the model).
The tank ends index to the formers with the multiple fingers. The fingers also set the correct distance. The styrene sheet cane be applied with the straightest edge against the tank end, and once the glue dries, trimmed at the opposite former.
The centre section of the tank is about .006" larger radius. When the two formers are wrapped with styrene, this makes the inner course of the tank slightly larger than the courses at either end. The centre course is indexed with diamond shaped tabs and slots to ensure it is centred.
