The Rolls-Royce RB.178 was an experimental engine designed to replace the RR Conway. It was proposed for use on several aircraft including the Shorts SC.5/45 Jet Belfast and the Vickers VC-10 DB.265 Superb.
In the end, the engine was cancelled after test versions had run on a test bench. It was replaced by the RB.211.
This set contains 4 engines in twin sets on pylon stubs, meanst for the Vickers VC-10 DB.265 Superb.
