WARNING: This puzzle is very prone to popping apart. Extreme care must be taken when playing this puzzle.
Shallower Madness looks nearly identical to Oskar van Deventer's
Deeper Madness puzzle. However, Shallower Madness is different internally, and is actually shallow-cut instead of deeper-than-origin-cut like Oskar's puzzle. The result is a puzzle with less internal bandanging, making more axes available for rotation.
Like the preceding "Madness" puzzles, Shallower Madness is a jumbling puzzle with six axes of rotation. One axis is located under six of the edges of the puzzle. Also like the prior puzzles, every move is a jumbling move, changing the shape of the puzzle. Beware, Shallower Madness is not at all easy to solve!
The Shallower Madness puzzle comes as a DIY kit of parts, and you will need to supply your own stickers. The templates for the stickers are available in the
instructions forum.
I recommend that unless you are familiar with the process of dyeing these parts, you purchase the puzzle in "Black Strong & Flexible". It costs a bit more than the white material, but it's worth it since the finished puzzle will look and work better. Shallower Madness also requires screws and springs to assemble. These can be purchased through a few different online puzzle sellers. The springs I used came from this
shop. You'll need six of the springs, combined with six 12mm M3 screws, which you'll need to purchase separately.
Have fun!
