Originally known simply as "the scout" and later as the destroyer-scout, this was a pre-war destroyer (saucer, single-engine) with four of the phasers and the four photon torpedo launchers replaced by special sensors. Like all pre-General War scouts, it was never intended to be in a battle, but to provide a fleet commander with the ability to track approaching threats by active and passive sensors. As with all pre-war scouts it found itself in combat during the General War where it was more survivable than the frigate-based scouts other empires started with. With eight sensors, this was one of the most capable scouts in the galaxy although the lack of adequate electric power meant its sensors could not all be used for the most power-intensive tasks. Thus it was superb for tactical intelligence or seeking weapons control but less effective in providing jamming and counter-jamming which required lots of power. (One channel used for each consumed a total of 50% of the ship's power output.)
The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
