Product Description

This Stig O'DIY designed honey extractor for small mouth mason jars allow one step separation into the final honey storage container. This provides a vast improvement on the duct tape and burping method shown on some YouTube videos. The basic technique uses two mason jars, two lid retainer rings, cheesecloth/paint strainer cloth/fine mesh cloth, duct tape, and low oven heat to strain honey from mashed honeycomb.  One jar is filled with the honey comb mash, covered with the straining mesh and retained by the lid ring. The second jar has only the lid ring attached. The empty jar is stacked onto the raw honey jar, the two rings are then duct taped together. The jars are then placed in an oven at low heat.  Periodic tilting of the jars is required to burp air from the lower jar into the upper jar. The oven technique likely exceeds the 100 degree F level, which degrades the honey.

The Stig 0'DIY extractor allows room temperature separation, by provided bleed air paths for both the upper and lower jars.  The unprocessed jar can actually be slightly pressurized to decrease the straining time.
