This M26A1 cab as modified for postwar civilian use has been made to be a drop fit for the Roco Minitanks M26 Chassis found within the M25 Dragon Wagon pack.
After World War II, civillians were able to purchase the ten ton M26 and M26A1 tractors through surplus sales throughout Europe and the US. In many cases the cabs were then refurbished by third party vendors to better suit civillian usage, recieving upgrades like better radiators, solid cabs and working windows. The bones of the system remained at the core, however, a big tough ten ton tractor with a top speed of 26 mph, and these monsters could be seen across the world in wrecker service, crane service or dragging extended lowbows ladden with transformers, cracking towers or other heavy cargo.
Upon receiving my initial sample I was disappointed enought with the removable roof option that I have discontinued it. The model with the removeable floor provides all the opptounity for detailing the interior one will ever need. This being said, I did not include seats or steering wheel) due to lack of drawings; the Roco M26 doesn't have them, either. I then found that the foward sections of the inner wheel wells interfered with the Roco floor, so I removed them. I finally discovered that the model felt a bit narrow, and after consulting with verious references, I discovered to my horror that my original drawing was indeed too narrow. That error has been corrected.
