Product Description
This is the latest design in the expandable lap evolution. These laps adjust from 6.00mm to over 6.23mm to accomadate all bore diameters.
Laping Tips:
When lapping with Shapeways laps, the lap wears down resulting in slower & slower cutting. This is why the expandable design was developed. You will need to tighten the screw about 1/3rd of a turn every 100 to 200 passes. It is very important to continue adding silicone oil to the lap every 100 passes at a minimum. Silicone prevents the lap from getting clogged with cut metal & slowing down.
Reapply lapping paste every 200 passes at the least.
Instructions:
The connecting bar will need to be cut off. Individual laps can often be snapped off of the bar using fingers. This is due to Shapeway's new pricing scheme on individual parts.
Required: M3 Screw, 40mm length. Use a screw with a narrow head to prevent it from contacting the barrel
