Product Description
Morozovelloides is a planktonic foraminiferan from the class Globigerinida with a spiral, perforated, multi-chambered calcium carbonate shell. The shell houses a single-celled amoeboid inhabitant that builds the shell for defense against predation. This species lived in the Eocene, approximately 50 million years ago. Studying foraminifera like Morozovelloides can help us understand what environmental conditions existed millions of years ago in the locations where they are found. Foraminiferan fossils are also an important tool in biostratigraphy, a method for finding petroleum.
