Product Description

This is a set of roof hatches intended to replace those on the etch that is supplied with the County Rolling Stock N-gauge / 2mmFS kit model of this distinctive design of insulated fish van. I have done this because, from the line drawings and photographs I have studied of these wagons, I believe the hatches were flat, not raised along the transverse centreline like little shed roofs, and were held down by straps which had a triangular profile. I have not seen photograph from a raised viewpoint, however, and maybe there were two designs of hatch, as I have seen some fine models of this wagon in 4mm scale as well as N-gauge with ridged hatch covers. There are six replacement hatches in this set. Four are needed for each wagon, and two are spares. The plan is to cut off the triangular tabs at each side of the four apertures in the etched roof detail unit in the kit, instead of folding them up, and not to use the hatch covers or strapping that come with the etch. Instead, seat these 3D printed units through the roof detail unit and into the apertures in the top of the printed wagon roof. In my case I have unfortunately already soldered up the hatches in the kit, so I hope I can still cut them off cleanly without mashing the walkway.
