Product Description
The General Dynamics F-111 "Aardvark" was a medium-range interdictor and tactical strike aircraft that also filled the roles of strategic bomber, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare in its various versions. Developed in the 1960s by General Dynamics, it first entered service in 1967 with the United States Air Force.   The F-111 featured variable-geometry wings, an internal weapons bay and a cockpit with side-by-side seating.  The wing sweep varied between 16 degrees and 72.5 degrees (full forward to full sweep).

The 474th Tactical Fighter Wing was the first USAF operational wing equipped with the General Dynamics F-111. In early 1968, the Air Force decided to rush a small detachment of F-111As to Southeast Asia under a program known as "Combat Lancer". Six 428th TFS F-111As were allocated to the Combat Lancer program, and departed Nellis AFB for Takhli RTAFB on 15 March 1968. By the end of that month, 55 night missions had been flown against targets in North Vietnam, but two aircraft had been lost.

This 1/144 Scale model of the F-111A Aardvark features wings in the back position of supersonic flight.  A hole is drilled in the underside to accommodate a 1/8” rod for mounting the model in-flight.  Also featured is a split canopy with a hollowed out cockpit and clear plastic for the canopy glass.  Four “bomb clusters” are included and a decal sheet for the 474th FTW is available upon request.
