In an attempt to field ships with more plasma firepower, the Romulans created a very limited number of J-modules, which carried a plasma-S torpedo instead of phasers. The improvement came at a steep cost. In the process of adding two additional plasma-S torpedoes, the Romulans reduced the already inadequate number of phasers. The ship was not considered a satisfactory design, but was used to support base assaults. The SparrowHawk-J is subject to shock when it fires the added plasma-S torpedoes. This ship includes a cloaking device and a nuclear space mine. Known names include Maximus Brutus and Executioner’s Song. The SparrowHawk-J+ was produced during the late war period in the shipyards of a different Great House than the original, accounting for the visual difference.
The ship is available in a variety of materials. (Smooth Fine Detail Plastic makes an excellent cloaked ship!) Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
