These earrings are an ode to the mouse. The house mouse (Mus musculus) has been used as a model organism in science for over one hundred years. It is a small, easy to keep, rapidly reproducing mammal with 95% genetic similarity to humans and therefore has been used in countless studies of human disease. The genetic basis of many diseases is the same in both mice and humans.
