The "

Lewek Kestrel" are typical examples for modern anchor handling tugs. Operated by EMAS Offshore Limited, they are used for a variety of tasks, such as anchor handling, towage, safety services, seismic exploration and emergency services. Both vessels are therefore equipped with a variety of winches and emergency equipment.
Technical details of the original
length 48m
beam 13m
tonnage 1060 tons
The model is designed in 1:200 scale. It can be built as a model for static display or as a working RC boat. It is set up to enable radio control functions (RC), with the twin shaft propulsion in kort nozzles, the twin rudder and the bow thruster fully functional. As the model is rather small, the model can only be used in quiet water conditions. Additionally, the radar and lights can be set up to work, additional function such as the lower winch can be added by a skilled modeller, too. However, this model is not set up to be ready to run, it requires refinement and is only suitable for skilled model builders.
For the superstructure, an optional mount is avaialble to install a geared motor to drive the radar beams.
