Design Feature: Volume of sandstone is less than ABS plastic volume in regular tire wheel chock stop blocks. Less Volume = Less manufacturing expense!
Material: Most Tire wheel Chock Stop Block are made with ABS plastic. "For the majority of applications, ABS can be used between −20 and 80 °C (−4 and 176 °F) as its mechanical properties vary with temperature.
On the contrary, Sandstone is "resistant to weathering, yet are easy to work. This makes sandstone a common building and paving material including in asphalt concrete." (Wikipedia) Sandstone has a tensile strength of 4-25 MPa which is higher than concrete (2-5 MPa) and Iron - mono crystal (3 Mpa). So a Sandstone can withstand at the least the weight of a 4 wheeler if not more! Sandstone in this design is also comparatively less expensive to manufacture compared to other metals!

Furthermore "ABS is flammable when it is exposed to high temperatures, such as a wood fire. It will melt then boil, at which point the vapors burst into intense, hot flames" which means that although it is impact resistant and tough, the hot tires can change its state. Also, "ABS is also damaged by sunlight. This caused one of the most widespread and expensive automobile recalls in US history due to the degradation of the seatbelt release buttons" (Wikipedia) which means that in hot boiling temperatures outside or inside the vehicle, this material can easily be damaged and become soft and rubbery
This design may make emergency roadside assistance or even common mechanical work on the vehicle less of a hazard as the vehicle is less likely to roll down a slope!

Notice: The glass transition temperature is 226 degrees fahreinheit or roughly 108 degrees celsius... At this point the material becomes rubbery and soft making it easier for tires to roll over the tire wheel chock stop block. This is a hazard for emergency road side assistance (especially highways) in warm weather. Also,
