The ThumbRail is a cutom-fit thumb rest for bass guitars that requires no modifications to your instrument. This version spans the length between the pickups allowing for wide range of tone variation with a comfortable and familiar hand position; just like anchoring on the top of the pickup, but more comfortable. This eliminates the tone-limiting "thumb on the pickup" locations or hand stretching to get where you want to be to get the right tone and attack. Just play.
Secures at a standard pick guard screw location using your existing screw, making it an easily reversible update to your bass.
NOTE: This version is for basses that have had their pickguard removed, but have a screw hole in the stock location; or you may need to drill one otherwise.
This unit is designed specifically to fit the 70's Fender Jazz Bass (1970-1982 used 4" pickup spacing) and Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass and assumes the use of a standard thickness pickguard (2mm). It may fit other models and years, but has only been tested on the following:
FITMENT TESTED ON:
- 1976 Fender Jazz
- 1999 Fender Geddy Lee Artist Series Jazz
This will NOT fit any American Series Jazz, Standard or Deluxe. See other models for those.
Message me if you have purchased and found it fits a year or model not listed above.
The ThumbRail is available in both NON-Polished and Polished plastics. Non-polished has a textured surface which ads some grip keeping your thumb in place nicely. If you prefer a smooth surface, order "Professional or Premium" finishes...available in colors too. Metal texture varies with level of polishing selected and the type of metal. See the materials page for more info.
