Scale: 1/125

Contains one Mk.37 director with integrated SPG-25 radar antenna.

Recommended for the Lindberg 1/125 scale “Blue Devil Destroyer” USS Melvin DD-680, Fletcher class.

The Mk.37 Director with SPG-25 Radar were used post-World War Two on many US Navy and allied warships.  This version has the latter solid radar antenna as seen from the 1960s.  A version with the earlier open lattice antenna is available separately (click here).

These 3D-printed acrylic parts are designed to accurately represent features of the actual ship.  These are not 3D-printed copies of Lindberg plastic kit parts and therefore are not the same size and shape.  Some adjustment to your plastic kit's parts or other aftermarket parts such as photoetch may be necessary for best fit.  CA "super glue" will bond this acrylic part to other acrylic parts or your plastic kit's parts.

From Wikipedia: "The function of the Mark 37 Director, which resembles a turret with "ears" rather than guns, was to track the present position of the target in bearing, elevation, and range. To do this, it had optical sights (the rectangular windows or hatches on the front), an optical rangefinder (the tubes or ears sticking out each side), and later models, fire control radar antennas. They were part of an upgrade to improve tracking of aircraft.[1]

"The Director Officer also had a slew sight used to quickly point the director towards a new target.[22] Up to four Mark 37 Gun Fire Control Systems were installed on battleships. On a battleship, the director is protected by 1.5 inches of armor, and weighs 21 tons."
