Product Description
Vent covers to decorate the doors of GER coaches: a set of 40. This is enough for a 4-coach set of 4-wheeled coaches.

Etched kits are available from Eveleigh Creations and Peter K for GER, 4-wheeled coaches of the 1870s. These coaches had distinctive, rounded covers for the door vents. The kits represent the vent covers by etched parts but the etches cannot capture the rounded appearance. This print is an upgrade to improve slightly the look of the coach doors.

The form of the vent covers was modelled from photographs of perserved coaches. The overall length and height of a vent cover was set from measurements of the etched kits.

Earlier coaches of the GER had a different style of vent-cover and this print is not quite right for that era. Coaches of the 1880s and later seem to have carried the 1870s style of vent cover (or something extremely close to it), but had vents above the fixed lights as well in the doors. The parts in the current print would probably work for the door vents  of the 1880s stock but the other vents are shorter than the door vents. I may cover these coaches later  with a separate print.

Instructions
To apply the printed vent-covers, clip them carefully from their sprue with side cutters and then sand away  the remnant of the sprue with fine abrasive-paper. A cavity is printed in the back of the body of each vent cover, so you will see when you have sanded far enough. The cavity is there to contain the glue - I recommend "5 minute" epoxy - and to stop it spreading around the edge of the vent cover. Please note that the vent covers have an open slit on one of the long sides (modelled as a rebate in the solid body of the print) and this should face down when the print is mounted on the coach side.
