Overview
A simple object and one that those who compete in cyclocross events may have come across before. UCI rules limit the width of cyclocross tyres to 33mm. Often UCI officials will use a plastic object similar to this on the start line of races to check athletes comply.
Riders will always push the limits as wider tyres offer a number of competitive benefits. Changes to tyres, rims, pressure and wear all affect the width so it's worth double checking rather than falling foul on the start line.
Application
One to keep in your toolbox as a quick check your bike complies at a race.
