Product Description
The Uintah Ralway of Colorado and Utah built (or rebuilt) this unique steel-sided combine in their own shops. The combine has now been restored at the Colorado Railroad museum in Golden, Colorado.
The design of this HOn3 car makes a few concessions for simplicity and to ensure it can print acceptably. Notably, I intentionally did not include the "rivets" on the car sides so that the car can be sanded smooth to remove any print lines - important on a steel car. Also, I've had issues with rivets making the models print incorrectly in detail plastic. I designed it to use Blackstone trucks, but any 5' wheelbase trucks should work ok. You will need to order the floor and the shell as seperate pieces. I did this so that the floor will be printed in a different orientation than the roof, allowing the details to print better. The shell and floor will simply snap together. The floor also includes details such as roof jacks and a railing that will need to be cut off and glued in place. CA works well for this. For couplers, you can either use Kadee scale head "whisker" couplers or Kadee HOn3 couplers. Slight modification will be required depending on which coupler you use. Holes are "pre-printed" for grab irons, which will need to be formed with wire.
