Product Description
This model is a cuboctahedron made of cuboctahedrons made of cuboctahedral spheres.
The coboctahedron is a VERY special form, for many reasons.
Buckminster Fuller understood that it is more essential than the Platonic solids, because it is the smallest shell within the triangular grid that he called the Isotropic Vector Matrix. It is the form created by the 12 vertexes that surround each point within the triangular/hexagonal/60degree matrix. 
It combines the three primary symmetries of the tetrahedron, octahedron, and cube.
It is the only 3D form whose distance between adjacent vertexes is the same as their distance to the centre of the form, and as Fuller understood distance to represent diminishing energetic force he saw that this is the most balanced geometric configuration.
