N Scale Modern D-Type Mast Signals Set with Side Maintenance Platforms & Angled Ladders #2200
These N Scale signals are a result of my efforts to combine Shapeways 3D printing capabilities and realistic signal dimensions to create a nice looking line of signals with a consistent look. They are based on North American Class 1 Railroad signal prototypes.
These models DO NOT have LED's and are solely intended to be scenic details that you paint and place. Any reference to lights in the heads is used to describe the signal head style.
This set is ideal for those who want to model signals without the time and cost of installing an operational signal system. They're also great for planning an new signal system allowing you the freedom to test signal placements and move them around to your satisfaction without having to drill holes. As a custom layout builder, I am no stranger to the finer details of having a working signal system on a layout, and these models are a real nice option to all that work.
Each signal has a mast diameter of 1/16" (1.60mm). This set of signals, #2200, measure 1-7/8" (47.6mm) tall after being removed from their cage. The heads are mounted at N Scale 12' (Bottom head's lowest light) and 20' (Top heads lowest light) from the bottom of where the "finned" square mast base and round concrete foundation join. These signals have side mounted platforms and the ladders go on the opposite side of the track from the rails for worker safety.
Included in this set are the 3 primary signals necessary to protect train movements across a single turnout from both ends. You get (1) double 3 light head signal for the right side of the track, and (2) single 3 light head signals - one for the left side of the track and one for the right side.
These signals come with a cage around them to protect them from breakage during packaging and shipping. A graphic suggesting how to best remove the signals from its cage is included in the photo gallery.
There is a lot of nice detailing on the signal that is best captured when printed in the Smoothest Fine Detail Plastic. Please note that that the side platform signals consume considerably more printing material and space by volume resulting in the higher price.

These are nice models that will certainly add a new level of detail to your layout. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Mark
