Product Description

Tiktaalik is an extinct sarcopterygian ‘fishapod’ which evolved during the late Devonian period (375 ma). Tiktaalik is regarded as an important transitional lifeform with an anatomy that displays a number of features that indicate a clear linkage between fish and tetrapod (land vertebrate). These anatomical features of Tiktaalik point to how vertebrates may have moved from water onto land. Tiktaalik is thought to have been among the first vertebrates to cross this margin.

This is a Paleozoo model. Paleozoo aims to provide an outline of Palaeozoic evolution - expressed in a collection of museum-grade lifeform models.

Paleozoo is the creation of Bruce Currie, an award winning career animator with a lifelong interest in palaeontology and the mechanics of evolution.

Expert advice has been received from the palaeontological community to ensure that the models are anatomically accurate, with each model undergoing numerous points of refinement.
