Product Description
The Omega Octant is east of the Alpha Octant empires seen in the Star Fleet Universe (beyond the Inter-Stellar Concordium), on the other side of a galactic void. That void is a dead zone where life is impossible and ships fall apart, marking a separation between Octants. The Maesron Alliance was one of the preeminent empires of the Omega Octant, at one point the largest empire before civil war, economic collapse, and foreign invasion reduced their territory to a small enclave. Mæsron ships are armed with wide-angle phasers, tachyon guns, and tachyon missiles.

The existence of the Maesron frignaught is evidence that, like most democracies, the Grand Council of the New Alliance can on occasion be prone to what some human politicians refer to as “pork-barrel politics.” The design was the brainchild of an up-and-coming engineer, who happened to belong to a well-placed family. He was able to use this political leverage was used to put this questionable design into limited production. The design bulked out a Maesron frigate hull into a destroyer-sized vessel with (almost) the direct-fire firepower of a cruiser, attaching a "floating" fire platform and installing the same center “warp pack” used on the command cruiser and Vulpa blockade runner. However, the resulting ship was ponderous, slow, and difficult to turn, with an over-stressed hull prone to constant maintenance issues. Whenever possible, the Maesron admirals kept these ships out of line squadrons, relegating them to defense missions, base assaults, or the occasional feet escort role.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
