ACL M5 Caboose, split window - HO

This is an HO scale (1:87.1) model of an Atlantic Coast Line M-5 caboose, with the newer split window cupola. The frame is connected to the body by four short runners, and will need to be cut away to build the model. No trucks or couplers are included. The model is designed for Kadee #5 (or any couplers using the #5 box) or Accu-mate Proto couplers. The couplers should hold the frame in place.

No underframe or brake detail is included. This is done to reduce complexity and cost, and because there are excellent brake part sets available.

No rivets are included, to facilitate sanding the surfaces. I recommend Archer or Micro-Mark rivet decals. In addition to trucks and couplers, you will need to provide grab irons, window glass, and weights. Because the walls are kept as thin as possible to reduce cost, I highly recommend lining the interior with styrene or metal for strength and durability. It might also be a good idea to replace the end railings with brass versions. The printed rails look good, but they are somewhat fragile.
