Product Description
The sheer flexibility of the Bison-class hull lead to it being selected for the Fleet's next cruiser design in 2150. Much larger than the Amarillo class, the Pioneer would be faster, tougher, more heavily armed, and have better endurance. Unfortunately, their large size and the limitations of fusion-based FTL drives meant that they were not very much faster, and rather less maneuverable. This was not an issue in convoy-escort missions, tied to the lumbering transports, where their role as "flying fortresses" safeguarded trade and the Fleet's logistics train even in the worst days of the War.
UES Ironsides (CH-36)is on display at the Fleet Museum.
