Product Description
The WW2 built 50t Warflat wagon in N-gauge/2mm:1ft scale, with mountings for Graham Farish (see note at end) and N-gauge Society diamond frame bogies. The parts of this kit are interchangeable with my other Warflat chassis and the bolster-fitted floors, so you can make the conversions based on the 50t (WW2 built) chassis now as well as those based on the 45t (WW1 built) chassis. Remove the inside half of the jacks under the bufferbeams to make more clearance for couplings on sharp curves. Most of the bolster conversions had the jacks removed entirely, sooner or later. For the coil carrier conversion of the Warflat, I suggest you use the dedicated chassis model which I loaded up a while ago, which has the lashing rings removed and a cleaner face to the bufferbeams where the end jack mountings were taken right off. If you would like me to put together a custom package of chassis, floor(s) and other parts for you, let me know and I will probably get around to it. For example you might want the WW1 chassis with end jacks added, or you might want this WW2 chassis but without the end jacks, and combined with a bolster-fitted floor. The parts of this kit are similar to, and with a little bit of filing, interchangeable with, the parts of the former Parkwood/N-gauge Society kit which is not always as available as we would all like it to be.
Assembly tip specifically when using old Graham Farish diamond frame bogies: As per the instructions on the backing card of the long-lost Parkwood kit, you may get the best result by sawing off or filing down the top of the bogie to remove the topmost ring, chopping off the sprung coupling box entirely, and fixing the coupling back directly to the cut end. It won't couple automatically of course, but it won't stick out so far and it might pass between the end jacks with enough clearance to round gentle curves. Alternatively, see my bogie models for one based on just this adaptation of the old Graham Farish diamond frame. Please note, other Graham Farish bogie styles, such as the Gloucester (?) have very different mounting characteristics so if you want to use something like that, this tip may not help you.
