IMPORTANT TO READ!!!
YouTube video shows a two-piece insert.
This is the newer single-piece insert that most sailors prefer.
The MacGregor M26D/S and M26X were built between 1968 to 2003. Cross-section profile of B3, as seen on my web site MastGates.com , also see how to measure Track Depth (TD).
If your spread slot is longer or wider, place 2 ft long wooded ruler (3/16" to 1/4" thick) or paint stick between the track and fill the sides with more shims to make the width slightly less than needed. Now you can use a mallet to hammer in the sides and not close it too much. Boom must be disconnected from the mast to prevent joint & screw breakage.
Select color before ordering. White un-dyed nylon is lease cost. Black best for UV blocking and Orange best for crew to see.
Youtube video link is of the older two-piece version that required a wire pull tool. This new single-piece version only needs a needle nose or fishing pliers to squeeze and pull out.
IMPORTANT: Made for a Track Depth of 20.7mm and a feed slot length of 7" by 3/4" wide.
Sail slugs must be 3/8" or 9mm. 1/2" slugs will not pass.
Use the bottom hole of the insert to mark the location to drill an 11/64" hole into the aluminum back web.
Use a 1/16" hex key to install a 6-32 x 3/8" set-screw into the bottom pad eye till it protrudes 1/8" below the bottom.
The setscrew will act as a stop-pin when mated into the web hole. This will prevent the insert from sliding out of position during reefing and hoisting.
