A nearly drop fit replacement for your AMT/ERTL's innacurate after torpedo launcher.
- For the remastered Excelsior kit, simply install where the kit part would go. You may need to sand down the small rectanrgular nubs molded into the semicircular mounting area to get the new launcher part to fit properly.
- For the original Excelsior and Enterprise-B kits, simply remove the small extensions on the kit's underside there the new printed part will go. They represent AMT/ERTL's attempt to replicate the "wings" or "fins" on the outboard sides of the printed part. It should be a very brief and quick thing to use an X-Acto blade or sprue clipper to remove them and then sand smooth. Then, glue the part in place.
The part had to be designed with a sprue in order to get it to a printable volume; Sorry about that. It was designed using newer photos of the studio model that came to light a couple of months ago to the on-line sci-fi community. I make no claim that the new part is 100% accurate, but it is doubtless far more accurate than the original kits' parts and closer to the original.
Soak the part in lukewarm soapy water and then lightly scrub using a toothbrosh to remove and printing residue and allow to dry. Then, paint and install using regular old CA glue. Acrylic modeling paints are recommended.
