Stuck to rocks in tidal pools, stuck to boats, sometimes even stuck to other animals, barnacles are nonmotile crustaceans that feed on plankton by sweeping seawater into their hungry mouths with featherlike appendages. The animal itself is protected inside a ring of calcified plates and is related to crabs and lobsters. This pendant represents individual barnacles that you might find cemented to a rock at the ocean, waiting for the tide to come in so they can feast.
Pendant is 1.8 cm (0.7 inches) long below the loop and 1.1 cm (0.4 inches) wide.
