Product Description
How many of you have spent hours of your childhood playing in these sandbased playgrounds with local-styled designs? Many of them, built in the late seventies, are the works of Khor Ean Ghee (born 1935), Maria Boey, Lee Kwee Wah and Chew Chek Peng, the former in-house designers of the Housing and Development Board (HDB). The animal playgrounds are a hit among children growing up during the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. But a 1993 news report questioning their safety standards followed by a list of safety concerns from a panel of foreign experts put all these localstyled playgrounds to extinction... These old playgrounds are part of our national and cultural heritage. Many of us grew up playing in these spaces. These playgrounds are also in essence art sculptures. Over the years, many of these playgrounds have been systematically wiped out from Singapore’s landscape to make way for neighborhood upgrading and or future development programs. Today, the remaining playgrounds stand as an icon of industrialization, heritage and culture that Singaporeans should be proud of. These playgrounds are unique to the Little Red Dot! For the love of these plagrounds I have embark on a journey to recreate these miniatures in meticulous details using 3D print and these timeless miniatures will be the perfect Singapore memento.
