kingj63 "Any of the classic Atlas GP frames can be successfully lowered to accommodate a very low long hood. The only catch 22 is you pretty much have to go DCC to have motor control and lights. The key is a split light board whatever frame. These old designs pulled power directly off the frame halves. So anything above the uppermost limit of the motor can be shed. The frames themselves were more robust and the motor was less contained in an open loop than enclosed in the halves. This makes the frame a lot more rigid once you lop the top 1/3 or so off. If this still needs to be even lower? One might try adapting a Kato RDC motor or even one of the Tram motors which lay flat and are smaller. Start with a classic frame GP and go from there. This is on my list to buy and try. Will let you know eventually. "
