Product Description

One of the primary problems of using a drone for an open water rescues is that, unlike a helicopter, the electric whir of a drone is barely audible over the noise of the ambient environment.

As a survivor floating in a large body of water, your goal should be to attract the attention of rescue through a combination of shouting, arm waving and general flailing. But how are you supposed to do that if you don't even realize that salvation is flying directly above you?

The concept behind these sound tubes is probably best explained by this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuGnsW0ysrA&t=2m44s).

In a nutshell, the inside of the tubes are ribbed which in turn produces an octave scale as the rushing air from the rotors is forced through them.

Is this as loud as a search and rescue chopper? No.

Will this produce more noise than a standard DJI4, increase its presence and improve chances of survivors spotting it and attracting its attention? Most probably yes.

In addition to the tubes, the device acts as a large rotor guard which also bears the U.S Coast Guard logo. This, if viewed close enough by survivors, will leave little doubt as to whom is piloting the drone.

Owing to its size, the attachment can't be printed in any other color other than white or black. However the final product should definitely be painted red to give it an additional visibility boost. Also note that the holes for the mounting points should be drilled manually after printing to avoid any misalignment of the screws.
