Product Description

Made from Raw Brass these provide an alternative to the usual etched coupling rods. No solder lamination is needed unless desired for either extra strength or 'painting'. The holes have been made small to allow you to ream or drill them out to the correct working clearance, depending which Crank Pins you are using.


These have been designed to work easier with Alan Gibson's Crank Pin system as test builds proved the standard Coupling Rods (Also available) have to have the Bosses thinned out a lot leaving it very weak.  


For this reason, these as an alternative set have been developed for you to buy instead labelled as 'TB' for Thicker Bosses.


You may choose these ones over the standard ones simply out of aesthetical considerations too.  These will work well with either system though.


As with real life different rods were different thicknesses.  You may want to file the rods themselves slightly thinner so the retaining nut can home in on the bush easier, or use one of Alan's longer bushes, or do as I often do and use a little superglue to fix the nut slightly further away.


A small amount of material from the locomotive body may have to be removed with a sharp knife, moreso with these bigger bosses.   If you are building the Mogul Experiment then it is recommended you don't use the bigger boss version as the body underside needed a few shaves anyway with the standard versions so the bigger ones may prove awkward.  Due to printing tolerances the inside splasher and running plate thickness has to be printed thicker than a scale reality, but they thin out with care.
