Product Description

This car is a model of the New York Central and Hudson River railroad’s 35’ standard boxcars built in 1900 by the American Car and Foundry. This car is different than the 1892-1896 cars in that they didn’t include the poling pocket, used uncoupling lever across entire end, replaced the wood bolster with metal ones, changed the end hand grab to 18”, only had one brakeman hand rail, replaced the grab iron ladders with wood ladders, used smaller end sills, employed a Cleveland-Chicago style roof, and the body had chamfered corners. The model also differs from the 1899 version by having a different door and door guides. The cars carried the original road numbers 65600-66649 and had Fox Trucks with a 5’-2” wheel base.
