The Seltorians are an insectoid species genetically engineered by the Tholians to be their primary servants in the Tholian Home Galaxy (M81). The Seltorians operated warships to maintain the Tholian Will. After the Revolt, the Seltorians pursued the fleeing Tholians to the Milky Way Galaxy and (with Klingon help) set up a base to continue their prosecution of Tholian War Criminals.
The Seltorians were limited to building one heavy cruiser and one light cruiser (i.e., two cruiser rear hulls and three cruiser front hulls) in each cycle. Each cruiser rear hull had three docking ports for forward hulls, mounting one to make a light cruiser and two to make a heavy cruiser. It was far into the General War and what the Seltorians needed was all heavy cruisers. The only solution (leaving the rear hull facility idle 1/4 of the time) was not acceptable. Klingon engineers suggested using the destroyer/frigate shipyard to produce a shorter cruiser forward hull, so the New Heavy Cruiser mounted one regular cruiser forward hull and two of the new short forward hulls, resulting in a ship roughly equal to a heavy cruiser in combat power.
The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
