Originally designed in the 1960's for the Frankfurt, Germany underground transit system, these light rail vehicles have been reliably transporting millions of passengers for nearly 50 years. The San Diego Trolley first acquired the U2 in the early 80s and ran them until just recently, retiring the last units in January, 2015. Surviving units can be seen at various museums around the country. In addition, eleven San Diego Trolley U2s are continuing to earn their keep in revenue service now in Argentina for the Metrotranvía Mendoza!
This model features San Diego specific details: ground level doors and roof mounted air condition units. The model
is articulated. Also
available seperately is the single arm pantograph that will mount in the pre-drilled hole on the roof.
If you're a fan of the U2 and n-scale, this is it!! I'll be releasing the original German model as well as the Canadian versions shortly after the San Diego Trolley release.
