This is a 20-sided die, aka D20, as used in many role-playing and other games.
It is based on the inner skeleton of the icosahedron, making use of the interesting fact that this platonic solid has three inner "golden" rectangles perpendicular to each other formed by connecting it's vertices. By using the long sides of these rectangles and some of the outer edges of the icosahedron, I found a regular continuous line connecting all vertices.
In the current realisation I interpreted this line as a rose tendril (Sleeping beauty being my favorite fairy tale and after all, fantasy games are based on fairy tales).
The tendril and blossoms form a perfectly regular die. A certain irregualrity may be caused by the numbers, wich of course are different in size (and therefore in weight).
I cannot guarante that it will be printable in your preferred material. If not, you will get a note from shapeways and your money refunded. Please notify me of your experiences, so I can update the material list.
I would recommend trying a steel material, as plastic is probably too lightweight for actual use as a die. Some customers have already reported that some of the metal materials are not printable. I will try to update the model in the future to hopefully solve these issues,as metal would be the best choice really for use in gaming, but I really don't have the time at the moment.
I have added only one € (less then 10%) for myself to Shapeway's price at the steel materials.
